Neighbors helping neighbors is part of what makes Stafford great. We want to get more people involved and we plan to lead by example, as Joe Mangino has been doing for years. When our neighbors needed help after Superstorm Sandy, Joe organized a community effort to gut houses, rebuild our town, and demand action from the politicians. Joe is the President of New Jersey Organizing Project, a nonprofit group formed by Sandy survivors to help South Jersey families rebuild their lives and communities. When Joe’s daughter wanted to play field hockey and there wasn’t a rec league for her to play in, Joe got together with some people and started the Stafford Field Hockey Club. Joe is also a longtime sponsor and volunteer for the Stafford Girls Softball Association and a volunteer for Waves of Impact, a surf program for Special Needs Children. And he does all of this while running his own small business. For his continuing service in our community, Joe was honored as the Martin Truex Jr. Foundation Humanitarian of the Year in 2013.
